REVERSE BIDDING By Anders Wistrand |
Reverse is when opener forces responder to chose opener's first suit at an unnecessary high level. Example: Opener Responder 1♦ 1♠ 2♥ ? Responder has to chose diamond on the 3 level instead of 2 level. Logically this must mean that Opener has more than minimum as the pair otherwise would be too high when Responder is limited to 6 - 9 points. Even with 22 points together it can be an unnecessary tough challenge to make 3♦. With 19 (13 + 6) it is impossible. This bidding must show 17+ points in Opener's hand. Opener must be aware of this when opening with 2 adjacent suits to chose between and a normal 13 – 16 point hand. With 4 hearts and 5 diamonds he must rebid diamonds and “hide” the 4 hearts. With a 1,4,4,4 hand he can bid 2 clubs, which gives responder the chance to bid 2♦. Härryda 2011-07-22 |
